A laboratory was opened in Kiev for more than 1000 future IT specialists

A training laboratory was opened in Kiev for 1350 students of the Faculty of Computer Science and Cybernetics. The training room with equipment will allow future IT specialists to practice in the following areas: Machine Learning, Data Science and Big Data. The project was implemented by Taras Shevchenko National University together with GlobalLogic company.

“This event is extremely important. Discussions on improving the educational process, on ensuring wide cooperation of classical higher education institutions with potential employers have been going on in Ukraine for a long time. Quite often employers support such discussions, but are not ready to take an active part in the transformation of the educational process. Long experience of cooperation of the Faculty of Computer Science and Cybernetics of Taras Shevchenko National University with GlobalLogic Company in Ukraine shows something else: round tables, public lectures of leading practitioners, participation in joint projects at the moment have grown into projects of institutional cooperation. Your team successfully demonstrates how close cooperation between Ukrainian educational institutions and commercial companies should prepare high-quality and competitive specialists”, – commented Vladimir Bougrov, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, PhD, Professor.

“We have been cooperating with the Department of Computer Science and Cybernetics of Taras Shevchenko National University for several years. During this time we have jointly created more than one training program, and this year we have implemented a new Master’s program in machine learning. Therefore, we are happy to prepare for the next semester and open the ML laboratory so that students could practice more while studying this area,” – added Tatiana Khryapina, Head of GlobalLogic Training Department in Ukraine and EMEA countries.

Machine Learning is a part of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI is starting to be used by 25 countries at the state level and 10% of car companies in the world have introduced it into production. Virtual voice assistants, search engines, chat bots and video surveillance systems that prevent crime are created with the help of Machine Learning and BigData. That is why practical skills in these areas are necessary for future graduates and will allow them to cooperate with leading companies immediately after graduation.
“Our cooperation lasts for 5 years and is gaining momentum. The opening of the laboratory is a logical continuation. There are still a lot of joint projects aimed at gaining practical skills by our students ahead of us,” summed up Elena Kashpur, Deputy Dean for Educational and Methodological Work.

In 2019 the GlobalLogic group of companies has already invested more than 2 million dollars in the development of engineering talents in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. A significant part of these investments falls on Ukraine. To date, the company has opened three laboratories in Ukrainian universities: the National University “Lviv Polytechnic”, Kharkov National University of Radio Electronics and the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.
In addition, in the framework of cooperation with universities, GlobalLogic Education has signed partnership and cooperation agreements with 15 universities in different cities of Ukraine and launched more than 15 joint programs, in particular, a certificate and a master’s degree.
