An air pollution sensor for smartphones has been created

Swiss and Austrian experts have created a compact and energy-efficient sensor for mobile devices that can detect the level of air pollution. Thanks to the sensor, the smartphone will warn the user that the place where he is is dangerous.

The sensor is smaller than a one cent coin. The authors of the development say that it is the smallest sensor in the world that allows you to measure the concentration of air polluting particles. The creators of the sensor noted that, according to the European Environment Agency, more than 400,000 people die each year in Europe due to air pollution. Thanks to the new sensor built into the smartphone, anyone will be able to monitor the level of air pollution. So she will be able to avoid especially polluted places during jogging or daily trips to work.
