Apple has updated the 27-inch iMac: new processors and graphics, SSD and True Tone
Apple has announced an update to the iMac with a 27-inch screen. The device has become even faster – it is equipped with SSD memory in all configurations. Another improvement was the Retina 5K display.
According to Channel 24, the computers use 10th generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors with increased frequencies to 3.1 / 3.3 GHz and 3.8 GHz, respectively. In all versions, the amount of RAM can be increased to 128 GB, and Fusion Drive drives have been replaced by fast SSDs.
Other technical updates
They also updated the graphics: if in the past iMacs were AMD Radeon 570X-575X-580X, now – Radeon Pro 5300 or 5500 XT, depending on the version. According to Apple, the increase in CPU performance was 65%, and graphics – + 55%.
Retina’s proprietary display now supports True Tone image adjustment technology and can optionally be covered with a nano-texture for better display in different lighting conditions, as in the Pro Display XDR. The computer includes an Apple T2 security chip, which checks the integrity of the operating system and encrypts data “on the go”.
The FaceTime HD camera now has a FullHD (1080p) extension, and the new array of microphones is “studio” quality. The design of the computer itself has not changed.
