Facebook has started creating smart glasses that will replace smartphones

Facebook Inc. together with the largest manufacturer of glasses EssilorLuxottica began developing a new generation of smart glasses. They should be superior in functionality to existing smartphones.

This was stated by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the annual Facebook Connect conference, according to Bloomberg. He announced that the smart glasses will be released under the Ray-Ban brand and codenamed Orion. With their help it will be possible to receive calls, communicate and conduct online broadcasts on social networks, they will have augmented reality technology. At the same time, they will look like ordinary sunglasses.

According to the plans, testing of the prototype Project Aria glasses will begin in September to finalize the design, video recording function and personal data protection issues. What will be the result will be presented next year, and the price and features of the gadget will also be known. The glasses will go on sale in 2023-2025.
