Google and Qualcomm have announced important news for all fans of Android smartphones. The companies have decided to join forces to provide four years of Android upgrades for Snapdragon single-chip devices.
However, we are talking only about future smartphones with Project Treble support and does not apply to already released models. The first SoC with guaranteed Android security updates in four years will be the flagship Snapdragon 888. Accordingly, users of the flagship Android smartphones, which will be released in 2021, can count on expanded support.
This is one year more than is currently available for Snapdragon 800 series platforms. But four-year support will also be available for less expensive smartphones – based on all the new Snapdragon models, which debut after the Snapdragon 888, with the Android 11 operating system.
