Microsoft Surface Duo gets a deuce for maintainability

A few days ago, the smartphone Microsoft Surface Duo went on sale in the U.S., and, of course, iFixit specialists were among its first buyers.

The disassembly of Microsoft Surface Duo has demonstrated that the design of the smartphone is not very complex, but it is almost impossible to disassemble and repair it.

The specialists of iFixit didn’t like the use of unusual three-point screws in the device, the abundance of glue that even two batteries are glued to, so it will be very difficult to replace them.

In addition, the USB-C port is soldered directly to the main board, and most repairs require the removal of OLED displays. But on the plus side, you can replace displays and rear windows without disassembling other components.

The iFixit team gave the Microsoft Surface Duo only 2 points out of a possible 10 for repairability.
