A popular Chinese blogger has published a screenshot of a new version of MIUI, which indicates that Xiaomi is internally testing the memory expansion feature. Once it is turned on, the system allocates 3 GB of storage, to expand RAM.
This feature is tested in OriginOS, realme UI, ColorOS, etc. shells. It combines RAM and ROM through algorithm optimization and directly uses some of the free ROM space to run RAM. This can effectively improve the use of background applications.
For Redmi models under $150, the memory expansion feature can significantly increase the number of apps that are in the background.
MIUI is simultaneously testing performance mode and balanced mode. The MIUI team previously reported that they will appear in smartphones as early as August and will allow the smartphone to effectively adjust either for maximum performance or efficient power consumption.
