Pros and cons of proper nutrition

The pros and cons of good nutrition

Balancing nutrition is key to good health and well-being. It helps to avoid chronic diseases, strengthen immunity and maintain a slender figure. However, proper nutrition is not a panacea for all diseases, it does not work miracles. It’s just one of the conditions for a healthy lifestyle. If you decide to follow a balanced diet, you will face both its benefits and pitfalls. But first, let’s look at what a PP is.

What is “healthy eating”

A balanced diet has nothing to do with strict diets or giving up everything delicious. The only right diet is one that provides you with all the necessary nutrients and sufficient calories. A healthy diet is based on these principles:

The most important meal is breakfast.

Eat 4-5 times a day: 3 main meals, 2 snacks or lunches.

Half of the plate – fruits and vegetables, a quarter – protein food, another quarter – carbohydrates.

Drink as you get thirsty, preferably – still mineral water, avoid drinks with high sugar content or carbon dioxide.

Restrict the use of sweets, alcohol, fat, fried, smoked and muffled, but do not dwell on restrictions and prohibitions.

Do not forget to include foods rich in fatty acids such as omega-3.

The benefits of good nutrition

Healthy food is not synonymous with “boring” or “monotonous”, on the contrary: in order to remain healthy, food must be varied. So it is no wonder that a balanced diet has many advantages. The most important of them is health. Of course, you should not expect to become invulnerable to infections and viruses, stop backache or miraculously heal sprains. However, proper nutrition contributes to immunity, so you will get sick less often. Improve overall health, a balanced diet will prevent the development of chronic diseases, including – endocrine system and gastrointestinal tract.

The second plus of a healthy diet is a slim figure. Of course, weight will not go away overnight: if there are excess pounds, it will normalize gradually, but guaranteed long-term effect. Unlike extreme diets that help you lose weight for a short time, a healthy diet will keep you fit for years to come.

Besides these advantages, a balanced diet has other advantages:

Improved appearance: Hair, skin, nails will be healthier and you will seem younger.

Mood normalisation: You’ll be less irritable, more confident.

Extra energy: A balanced diet often provides the strength, energy, enthusiasm that many city dwellers lack.

Risk reduction: The likelihood of getting sick with oncology, diabetes or another serious diagnosis is reduced.

Minuses of good nutrition

If a proper diet is so good for health, what kind of deficiencies can it have? For starters, there is a risk of overdoing it. When they notice a change in health, some people start to “improve” their diet by reducing their calorie intake or by giving up all “harmful” foods. On the one hand, this can lead to neurosis and eating disorders, on the other – there is a risk of developing chronic diseases. For example, if all meat products are crossed out of the diet with a tendency to reduce hemoglobin, anemia may develop. This is not an innocent ailment, but a serious disease that requires a long treatment. That’s why everything has to be measured.

The second disadvantage – the transition to the right diet may be psychologically uncomfortable, there will be a breakdown or disappointment in a balanced diet. In the presence of chronic diseases due to abandoning the usual conditions, they can become more acute.

The third disadvantage is that it is not easy to reconsider your approach to food. You will have to be more attentive to the choice of products, cook at home, look for new recipes. This should be done regularly, because the diet should be diverse, and many people do not have the time or moral strength for it.
