Self-realization, vocation and priorities: 7 steps to find yourself and your life’s work

Do you realize you’re doing something wrong with your life? But you don’t know what you want to devote your time to? Do you have no idea what your vocation is and where you could successfully realize your potential? We’ll tell you how to find the answers to these questions. Here are seven steps to fulfillment.

The ideal life is said to be success in love, social life and career. But everyone has their own values in life. And everyone sees success in their own way. To really be happy, it’s important to find not just a profitable business. And this vocation, which you want to develop. To make it easier, use these tips.

  1. Turn your passion into a source of income

You’ve probably heard the phrase: Find something to do, and you won’t have to work a day. Don’t be skeptical of that statement. Agree, there is no better prospect than to receive for your hobby good money. So think about what is the main passion in your life? What do you really enjoy doing, even for free? What do you do best? And then it’s just a matter of figuring out how to turn it into a source of income. Today you can make money on almost anything.

Even if you only like to play online games and try delicious food, you have a few areas to think about. You can go into cooking or tasting, game development or go into cybersport, start a themed blog, YouTube channel or Twitch – as you can see, there are plenty of options. And so with any hobby.

Of course, you will have to improve your skills and completely immerse yourself in this sphere to become a professional in it. But it won’t be that hard if you really like it.

  1. Imagine a perfect world…

Another way to decide on your top priorities is to reflect on what the ideal world should look like. What is it like, your utopia? How is it different from reality? Perhaps your purpose is precisely to bring the real world closer to that ideal image. Think about how you can improve the lives of certain people, what goods you need to create, what services you need to offer.

Don’t limit yourself to boundaries. Let go of the fantasy and allow yourself to just dream. Write down any thoughts that come to mind. Pay attention to all the details and accents. And only then think about how to turn them into reality.

  1. …And the perfect life

Now focus on yourself. Imagine an improved version of your life. What’s missing from it? To make it easier, write down the phrase, “In my ideal life, I…” fifteen times. And fill in the blanks. For example: “In my ideal life, I only socialize with like-minded people,” “In my ideal life, I travel a lot,” and so on. Then focus on the verbs you wrote down. Compare them to each other and pick the five that seem most important to you. That way you’ll understand what your main points of focus are at this stage in life.

  1. Recall the best moments of your life

To understand what’s most important to you, think about the moments in which you felt the most joy. It’s usually in those moments that we do what’s important to us, that we’re on the right track. What has given you the most satisfaction in the past? Spend some time and think of all the times when you were genuinely happy. Let them be little things or something strange, list them all directly.

To find a reference point for your personality, analyze what all of these moments have in common. What they have in common. Think about how you might experience similar joy more often. It’s likely that the answer to this question will tell you a goal to strive for.

  1. Add specifics

When making a list, avoid vague statements. It’s hard to achieve goals like “I want a lot of money and recognition,” because it’s not clear what you have to do for it and what the result will be. How much money is a lot of money? What should be the result of recognition? To understand what to do, you need specific goals. There may even be several, united by one theme, the same wealth, for example. Just prioritize them and achieve them one by one.

  1. Plot a route

So you have decided on the main vectors of development and made a list of goals. Now you need to write down all the points on the way to achieving them. This is like a real map. In one point is your current life, in another – the future, to which you aspire. Take the best route from point A to point B. Think about what skills you need to learn, what courses to take, what to read, watch, listen to. What daily habits to add to your life, what to acquire. Who to meet and what to develop. The more specific points you put on your “map,” the easier it will be to put them on your schedule and start moving toward your goal.

  1. Be patient

It is worth understanding that a sense of complete satisfaction will not come immediately at the stage of developing a plan. And not even in the first stages of its implementation either. The road to self-actualization can be quite long and thorny. And maybe, on the contrary, it can be quick and easy. But in any case, everything will not happen in one day. Be ready to move towards the goal gradually, completing the planned items daily.

Do not give in to doubts, fears, laziness, insecurity and other such emotions. Constantly keep in mind a whole picture – the ideal life that you strive for. This will help you find the strength to overcome difficulties. And, of course, do not forget to believe in yourself. Tell me what you think about self-realization? Is it easy to find something to your liking?
