The fact is that having strong personal qualities and being able to use and manage them are different things. For example, you can be a decisive person, but not be able to slow down in time – the decision is made before a full analysis of the situation and as a result – bad consequences. Or vice versa, you have analyzed the situation for a long time, and time is gone, and the decision now makes no sense.

“Do you know that you are a gifted leader? No? How do you know you don’t have strong qualities?” Being able to see, to find, to feel the strong qualities of a person is another strength of an executive! If you know your strong qualities, you can use them at the moment when it is necessary, but if it happens spontaneously and unknowingly, the consequences will be unpredictable.
A good leader is able to see not only in himself, but also in his subordinates’ personal strengths. For example, if you are not quick enough to make a decision, then let others do it. Recruit employees who can help you brainstorm, who are quick to generate creative ideas. One person can’t have all the valuable qualities at once, so an effective team is the way to go.

Strengths of a sales manager
An active life attitude is a consequence of a strong life energy. An energetic person has the entrepreneurial spirit and stamina necessary for leadership. Sometimes such people become hostages of this energy, they grasp at everything themselves and do not like to delegate. As you can see, even a strong quality can be a disadvantage. Others are drawn to such people, they are imitated and often envied. However, this energy also brings a lot of trouble, for example: first do and then think. This model of behavior is characteristic of many energetic people.
Taking the initiative allows you to stand out from the crowd with no fear of responsibility. Not for nothing they say: “Initiative is punishable!” They are not afraid of punishment for failure, and are always ready to try their hand at it again and again. This quality can be considered a strong side of a leader only if it is backed by responsibility and diligence. After all, to take the initiative does not mean to execute! And do not forget the proverb: “It is not a fool who is afraid, but a fool with initiative!” To rub dust in the eyes of management, to show flamboyant activity and promote complex issues that require courage and initiative – these are different things.
Leadership traits. A leader by nature has a strong character, he has a strong willpower, self-confidence. However, such people have a lot of principles, with which it is difficult to fight. For such a leader, subordinates want to follow, they trust him. The ability to persuade other people and to earn respect from them is called leadership. The presence of principles indicates the firmness of convictions, and the unwillingness to depart from them – the willingness to take responsibility. The leader subordinates free opinion and this is a management tool. There is a method of personnel management – situational leadership, be sure to adopt it.
Analytical mindset, foresight. The ability to quickly build a strategy of behavior or actions is very valuable in a leader. Such people make decisions in seconds. However, in complex tasks, analytical skills can block determination and inhibit decision-making, because the analysis of a complex situation generates doubt.
Stress tolerance is necessary because complex situations will always arise. A manager is forced to deal with situations that may affect not only business processes, but also the fate of people and the company as a whole. Stress depresses and psychologically burns a person out from the inside, a manager should have a low emotional susceptibility to stress and be able to hold his own. A smart man once said: “What happens at work are work moments, and how the people around you behave are their constructive characteristics. There is nothing you can do about it! You have to always remember this and combine the work moments with the constructive features of the personalities involved in them.”
Weaknesses of a sales manager
There are no perfect people, everyone has weaknesses and shortcomings. We have already said above that it is necessary to know them, and therefore to control them. Most of all in the managerial activity hinder such qualities as:
Excessive softness. When a manager can’t defend his point of view, defend his opinion, impose disciplinary order in the sales department, he ceases to be a leader. A weak person will not be taken into account by his subordinates, will not hear him and, as a consequence, will not be respected. Also, the manifestation of softness is a sign of lack of his/her core, character, position. “He/she is forced to smile at everyone, so as not to be eaten.” Excessive softness is a consequence of the low authority of the leader.

Such a manager often uses an aggressive management style of subordinates, which in sales is not effective. Strictness – yes, aggression – no! Aggression is a display of helplessness or inability / inability to solve the issue otherwise.
Indecisiveness, stubbornness. Unwillingness to accept or consider someone’s sensible idea due to ego and mistrust is a big disadvantage for a manager. These people understand their wrongdoing, but because of stubbornness, pride and inflexibility, all the same will do on their own. Work with such a manager – the eternal battle and work with objections. Stubbornness in realization of effective decisions is a strong quality of a manager, stubbornness for the sake of self-assertion is a weak side of a manager. If you have it in you, do not immediately say, “No”, say, “I’ll think about it and answer a little later.
Cowardice, excessive caution, indecision. “He didn’t have the courage to take responsibility!” or “Are you still going to take a long time to make a decision? All deadlines are coming up!” – that’s what they say about an indecisive leader. With such people, any problem is viewed under the filter of all sorts of risks rather than benefits. This leads to the fact that the manager hesitates to make important decisions in time: “Better not to do it than to get a beating from the management!” What stops such people? They realize that they don’t have the strength, energy, intelligence, etc., to “handle” the consequences in case of an accident. to “handle” the consequences, if anything.
Greed. Do not confuse greed with ambition. More money at any price. This philosophy leads to many risky decisions and ill-considered actions. Chasing after the result, neglecting the law, business processes, the value of resources, can lead to disaster.
Some qualities, make a person a weak leader, but they can be curbed and even turned into virtues. Analyze your personal and professional qualities, identify your strengths and weaknesses as a leader and work on yourself! Take a closer look at your colleagues horizontally. Note what you like about their behavior and actions. Do not be afraid to change, because it is expected of you all.
