The artist showed what a potential Half-Life 2 remake on Unreal Engine 4 could look like

Half-Life 2 was released in the distant 2004 and still retains its cult status, although it looks outdated now. The first part of the franchise not so long ago received a great fan remake called Black Mesa, but the sequel has not yet been updated. Meanwhile, an artist named Ivan Fernandez decided to demonstrate how the potential reissue of Half-Life 2 will look like. He armed himself with the Unreal Engine 4 engine and recreated the station square on it from the game’s introduction.

The enthusiast demonstrated his work in the video published below: the artist created new textures that match the style of the original. He made the buildings more detailed, as well as other objects of the environment. You can also see in the video the lighting set up and the correct shadows thrown by trees, buildings, fences and so on.

After the release of Half-Life: Alyx developers from Valve said that they were no longer afraid of their franchise. Perhaps in the future, users will see a remake of the second part or even a full number continuation.
