The widespread use of mini-LED technology should not be expected

The widespread use of mini-LED technology should not be expected, at least in 2021. The share of devices with mini-LED displays will not exceed 1%. It is expected that next year, two major manufacturers will begin to use miniature LEDs in screens for tablets and TVs, but the widespread use of this technology, which is already found in some devices, can not be expected. According to industry sources, the share of devices with mini-LED displays in 2021 will not exceed 1%. Apple attributes the intention to release an iPad Pro tablet with mini-LED displays.

Samsung Electronics uses this technology in TVs. However, monitor manufacturers are in no hurry, they are constrained by the high cost of mini-LED panels. Victor Chien, president of digital displays at Acer, believes that in the future, mini-LED technology will be widely used in monitors with a diagonal of 27 inches or more, which now accounts for 10-15% of the market. But since prices on mini-LED backlit panels are several times higher than on conventional LCD panels, it is expected that mini-LED monitors will not be widely available in the foreseeable future.
